Mast Cell Stabilisers

Mast cells in the gut degraulate and release histamine, part of the mechanism in a local gut allergy/delayed hypersensitivity otherwise known as a non IgE allergy. (Read the page on allergies to understand the difference between IgE and non Ige responses, both are true allergies involving the immune system.)

Two medications responsible for stabilising mast cells in the gut are Ketotifen and Nalcrom - sodium chromoglycate. I have come across an excellent article describing both and their efficacy here.
